Pro Air Hotspur Fall 2008 Season
Record 6-1-2 – lost in final – 24 goals scored, 10 goals conceded.
Our first loss in 15 games was an unfortunate one, the “final” of the league on November 5, 2008, to a strengthened “Chesapeake FC” side with some players from Christos FC, who decided to sit out the fall season. After ending up in first place in Division “1″ with a 5-0-2 record, which included a 3-3 tie with Annapolis after leading 3-0 at half time, we played the same Annapolis FC in the semi-final. Playing our best soccer of the season, we dispatched of them handily 3-1.
The final vs. Chesapeake saw us go ahead on an early goal by Len Vandegraaf. A defensive error after 20 minutes allowed Chesapeake to tie. Chesapeake’s physical play gave them an advantage with the poor referees that the Anne Arundel league features and 10 minutes from time, they scored from a head ball off of a perhaps too easily awarded free kick. We were unable to mount a comeback against Chesapeake’s solid defense. 2-1 Chesapeake FC
